Hi Scott, I always loved your tune 'Jakarta' from Reality Check. What was the genesis of that? I recall an old live YouTube clip where you said something to the effect that it was based on an Indonesian folk song...

Thanks! I was in a little souvenir shop in Jakarta and I heard a melody playing on the PA. The shop owner told me it was a traditional Indonesian melody, and one of the local musicians told me it was public domain with no copyright restrictions, so I used it for the main pentatonic melody in my song. I always enjoyed playing it live - maybe we'll bring it back for the next tour.

There's a live version of Jakarta on the Scott Henderson Live! album. Spears and Reality Check are owned by labels, so it's up to them whether to stream them or not. Most of the labels I made music for have sold their whole catalogues to other labels, so I have no idea who owns what.
