Hey Scott,
Just a thought. In an ideal world, would it be better to classify music in terms of mood? For example your Wayward Son Of Devil Boy could be classified as Mad/Angry, while something like Actual Proof could be in a "Cool" class.

What do you think about the music industry slapping on genres everywhere? Do you know of a good way to classify music? or is it best not to classify music at all?

I doubt if many people would agree on classification by mood - the same song can affect people in totally different ways. Wayward Son sounds kinda happy to me.

Some artists fit into categories described by the music industry. Beyonce is pop, Joe Henderson is jazz, etc, but there are many musicians whose music is harder to categorize - I'm probably one of them. You could call it fusion, but there are a lot of sub-categories there. Some people call Kenny G fusion, and my stuff doesn't sound like that. I guess I'm jazz-rock-blues fusion. I don't mind the labels that much - what I don't like are close minded people who only listen to one kind of music and think everything else is inferior. For those people, music is more like a cult or religion.
