Hey guys,

For whatever reason lately, I've been listening to a lot of blues again. I was just wondering what some of your favorite blues artists and albums are. Here's some of my personal favs:

Albert King - Born under a bad sign

Buddy Guy - Damn right I got the blues

Johnny Winter - Prgressive Blues experiment, Let me in, and 3rd degree

SRV - The sky is crying, In Step, and Couldn't stand the weather

Robben Ford and the blue line - Handful of blues, self-titled

I have to agree- Johnny Winter's "Progressive Blues Experiment" has been one of my favorites for over 20 years.
Also, i would recommend:

Robin Trower- "Someday Blues"
Gary Moore- "Blues For Greeny"
Miles Davis- "Star People"
RL Burnside-"Heritage Of The Blues"
anything by Lightnin' Hopkins
peace

I've recently become some what of a Joe Bonamossa fan. My finace' saw him in concert recently and has 3 of his CDs. He's a great guitarist and singer....He's a lot like Gary Moore.....plays blues with massive guitar chops.....I think Joe has above all, my favorite blues guitar tone....On his latest CD in the liner notes he lists what guitars and amps he used for each song...effects too sometimes.....His vibrato really grates on my nerves sometimes, and he rushs the beat a lot...but he's a super great blues player..

Hey, John, how ya doin'? I remember you from all the lists we both belong to. I saw Joe here in San Diego a couple of months ago. He's a real nice guy. He was smoking!!!! I've got all his CD's, too. I read about him in Tonequest magazine and checked him out. I'd actually heard him in a band he was in called Bloodline, with the sons of Berry Oakley, Miles Davis and Robbie Krieger. He does rush it a little at times, but maybe he's just and excitable boy,eh? He does have chops to die for, though. One of the CD's I bought, A New Day Yesterday, had a DVD in it, so I've been watching it and it's just amazing what he does with dynamics and phrasing. Pretty cool. I think one of the things I appreciate is variety in chops and phrasing, like Scott has and Joe, too. There are lots of really good players, but many seem to recycle the same licks or phrases over and over. (I'm guilty of that, to an extent...I like the sound of some of them so much I play them a lot..) I saw Smokin' Joe Kubek on TV the other day (I didn't know who it was at the time) and he was pretty good, but kind of boring, like he has two or three pet licks that he throws into everything. That's the thing about listening to Scott- you never know what he's going to play, but you know it will be damn good and tasty. Robben Ford, too. He plays some really cool stuff and isn't at all repetitiuos.
Mike.
