Brian- the answer to your question: No.
There are no springs in the Tremol-No, so it won't add (or take away) any of the tension normally found on the trem.

Tremol-No is a trem locking device.It does a little more than lock a trem down.
I like to think of the Tremol-No as a "type of bridge selector" for the guitar.
