|
|
Hey guys -
I'm sure Ed already posted this but figured I'd throw it out there as well because I've received a lot of questions about these guitars. Just wanted to let you know that Suhr is now accepting orders for their 7 string Modern. I received the following from Ed last night.
"We can now take orders for the Modern 7-String that was introduced at NAMM but the bridge choice is still limited to the Floyd Rose Original 7-String and the EMG pickups. The base price is the same as any other Custom model. John is working on a 7-string version of the Aldrich pickups and looking at other bridge options but it may still be a little while (several months) before other options for the bridges and pickups are finalized".
Please look me up if you're interested in getting one on order!

| I'd wait. Too expensive to not get what you really want. I have no problem with the floyd I want passive pickups though preferably SSH+ but I'll even provide Dimarzios if possible. Are maple tops and different body and neck woods now available |

You may be able to supply your own pickups. All the options that are available on a standard 6 string Modern are available on the 7 string Modern.

I think you're right... my old JP7 was a great guitar and I'm pretty sold that a standard trem / fixed bridge / passive pickups is the way to go.. (although there's plenty of EMG / Floyd players out there to disagree with me!) _________________ Guitars

| I know Rusty Cooley thinks the only way to go on seven string pickups is EMG, and he only plays seven and eight string guitars. I just dont care for EMG's. |

I just got the following from Suhr.
"We can take orders with the Duncan 7-string pickups but they need to be supplied right away so that we can work on the CAD drawings and the CNC programming. We'll only do the DiMarzio pickups if the dimensions are identical to that of Duncan's. We can't do the CAD drawings and CNC programming for every different type of 7-string pickup out there".
If any of you guys want to be the first kid on the block to own a Suhr 7 string, get in touch with me ASAP! I only need a non refundable $500.00 deposit to get your order in the system, the balance doesn't have to be paid until your guitar arrives in about 5 months.

| Not really a Duncan guy plus they look totally retarded the way they say Seymour Duncan on them. Dimarzio has been in the seven string game longer than Duncan as far as I know. The dimensions wer're talking about are the mounting plate I assume? Looking at pics on their sites the Duncans have square ends on the mounting point and the Dimarzios are rounded. |

Nice, I think the SSH+ would sound great with a 7 string. |

Where can I find the specs (Scale length, nut width, set-neck/bolt-on)?
Thanks! |

Agreed.

I'm guessing that the rounded/triangular ends on Dimarzio pickups would be closest to Suhr's own pickups. |

I get the feeling this will be Suhr's 'Ipad' .. great in it's first release.. awesome in it's second once all options are available.
I'm going to wait until John finds a nice fixed / standard bridge and partners it with a SSH+ 7 string pickup. _________________ Guitars

Which DiMarzio 7-string pickups should we look into for another prototype? They have over 10 different models. I was thinking the Tone Zone 7 or the Air Norton 7 for the bridge and the PAF 7 for the neck position. _________________ Ed Yoon

| Tone zone and air norton would be good as well as evolution and the crunch lab and liquifire. I'm hoping an ssh+ will also be an option eventually. |
