Hi,

I just picked up the Suhr 1x12 cab with matching Badger 18, second hand. My question is about the cab, it's come loaded with a Celestion Alnico Gold. I know this is meant to be a great speaker, but is it suitable for this cab? Is the 1x12 specifically tuned for a Vet30 and I'd be better off swapping the Gold out for the Vet?

I tried the Gold in that cab and I preferred the V30 or vet 30 by a long shot.
Its a ported cab and really not designed for that speaker
Thanks

Alright, thanks a lot for the advice. The Gold will go and I'll replace with a vet 30.

Btw, the Badger 18 is amazing, I've actually had it paired with my THD 2x12. So dynamic and responsive, my Classic S goes great with it. Also essential to have the KokoBoost out front!

Maybe late but I have a Badger 35 with a 1x12 cab.
I was feeling for a long time now that my amp was somewhat sounding shrill and trebly.
Swapped the Vet30 for the Celestion Alnico Gold and now it's perfect!!!
Also tried the et 65 but not as good as the Gold.

Just my 2c

Cheers

Never too late.

That's interesting indeed. I haven't got myself a V30 yet to try it, however I will hang on to the Gold as well and do a comparison.

The Vet 30 will be less edgy than the V30
What I didn't like about the Gold is that it wasn't as tight for Rock.
