|
|
Hi there,
I’ve bought a Suhr Classic, #3606, 3 TS, alder body, maple neck with Rio Palisander board, Wilkinson VSV, 2x Suhr V60’s low peak + 1 Duncan DS59-B humbucker. The building quality, resonance and sound of this guitar is awesome!
I’m very satisfied with the sound of the singlecoils but the humbucker sounds way too aggressive and bright for my taste (I always have to roll back volume and tone).
As I have no chance to test your pickups here in Germany I would very much appreciate advices which Suhr humbucker (with or without cover) to choose in order to give the guitar a smoother, less aggressive and more vintage (like a PAF 59) sound. And of course which size: 50 or 53mm?
I mainly play classic rock and blues.
Setup is:
Soldano SLO100 (mainly using the crunch setting on the normal channel)
Soldano 4x12
TC G-Major
Fulltone Wah and Fulldrive
Thanx very much in advance + best regards from Germany,
Hannes |

I think the answer to your prayers is John' DSV. I have it in my Alder Suhr Classic and run a very similar rig (Ecstasy w/ Marshall cab, G Major) and it nails those woofy PAF tones.
