What is John's serial number scheme? Are they purely sequential?
I've bought 3 Suhr's this year that were new and with recent birthdates but the numbers are all over the place.
Classic: 2806
Classic-T: 4209
Standard: 3455

Sorry, I hope it could help.
What is it that gets you more confused ?
Maybe John will pass by and help you out.

Well, based on what I've seen the Classic is John's most popular model but yet the SN of mine is actually the lowest of the 3 I have. The guitar was shipped from the factory only this past December so it very new. |

Well, you're also confusing me if your brand new classic is n°2806. Mine is from february and n°4172.
Ask John by mail or your dealer and let us know the answer.

I just double checked the dealer order form.
Ordered on 8/18/2004
Shipped on 12/3/2004
SN: 2806 ( I double checked the headstock too)
It's not a big deal but just a bit strange. Hopefully someone from the shop will pipe in on this. I'm not going to bother them with a call over this.
Anyway - SUHR guitar are the BEST! |

I asked Steve from Suhr about the SNs and here is his reply:
Our serial numbers are not in order. Last year I assigned a set of consecutive numbers to each dealer. I am doing it different this year. |

everytime a dealer asks for a quote the database assigns a serial number to the quote, If we delete the quote the serial number is gone.
As a dealer usually orders for 3 or 4 months at a time that dealer will get serial number in order. The serial number has nothing to do with the date it is built, it is just a lookup number |
