A few of you have probably seen this posted at various forums (gear page, etc). I felt I needed to post it here of all places.
My new baby:
I can't wait to get this in my hands!
One question I had for you all, what do the DSH+ humbuckers sound like? Any comparisons would be most appreciated. I have a WCR Shredder I can thrown in if I don't like it but I am hopeful I can leave it stock!
Thanks in advance! |

Mighty Perty! Congratulations. I'll bet you that after a few weeks of playing that Suhr you will look at all other brands a bit differently.
I have a DSH+ in the bridge position of my standard and LOVE IT. I wouldn't call it a high gain monster but it's definately a modern humbucker. Tons of harmonic overtones can be coaxed out of it just by simply changing your picking attack slightly.
Very musical pickup for sure! ENJOY!!! |

I'll be watching this thread. I'm really interested in learning what you think of the DSH+ in that guitar.
Congrats! |

Well, she finally came home. After a few tweaks, a new string gauge, pickup height adjustment, truss rod adjustment, etc. I can definitively say, this ones a keeper! I really dig the sound of the stock pickups. I was expecting a bright high output bridge pickup, what I got was a nice smooth sounding humbucker with a lot of punch! Perfect for what I was going for. It complements the sound of the guitar very well. Once I got the neck a little closer to the strings, I really started digging on that pickup as well. Very balanced and smooth. Balances very well with the bridge humbucker.
The pink top isn't quite that bright in real life unless you are under bright light conditions. It is actually much more purple/pink (magenta - the color it is called is actually pretty acurate). Everone who sees it digs it. The 16 degree radius is great for fast runs and scales and feels great. The neck carve also feels really comfortable. The guitar has a lot of chunk and cuts through very well. All in all, a winner! |
