|
|
Here's something new, and I mean new!
This has what is known as vulcanized Maple. What the heck does that mean? The Maple on this is virtually impervious to moisture, humidity, etc. You can dip it in water and it will not absorb it. It will just a bit initially, but then it will return to its normal state as if nothing ever happened.
The wood gets treated through some intense baking process and gets "vulcanized" to the point that moisture is not going to be a factor anymore. This neck will stay true. It's been a few weeks since we completed this guitar and we are still observing it, but we are impressed by how it does not move. And, better yet, it sounds great! The Maple is baked brown and looks like Pau Ferro, but it sounds and feels like Maple because it is. Check it out:

We're going to keep this around for more observation, but we're very impressed so far. Will keep you guys posted... |

Excellent. I really like when guitar companies try new things to improve the instrument a la Parker,Vigier,Suhr, and TAG. It's one of the reasons I may buy a guitar or go out of my way to check it out. What is the estimated upcharge for the neck treatment? _________________ Suhr :STD,S3,Modern Rootbeer metallic, Koa Modern, Vigier Excaliber, Tom Anderson Cobra S, ect.... |

Yeah, we are always on the lookout for things that can make a difference and a measurable improvement. That's what really matters. Gimmicks and things that add no value need not apply.
Not much on the upcharge for vulcanized Maple - about the cost of the upcharge for Mahogany, but it isn't all finalized yet. Will keep you posted as we believe this can be a very valid and exciting new option without resorting to composite materials for neck stability. We're even thinking of flying it around to different climates and back so we can see how it holds up. |

OK, send it to me!
On the guitars I own I have to adjust the neck 3-4 times a year due to variations of the climate...
I promise, I'll test it for free...

Send it to me in NJ.
If it survices NJ it will survive anywhere.
John is from NJ so I am sure he can vouch for NJ. |

This sounds like an awesome option! I love maple but i hate the way it can react on tour at time..because one day its 98 outside the next day its snowing.. _________________ THE ABSENCE "Enemy Unbound" In stores world-wide!

Looks great, and seems like a very cool idea.
Ed, does this mean that these types of necks do not have a truss rod installed?
Add me to the list of potential candidates to give it a test drive, if you're flying it around _________________ Deal with reality, or reality will deal with you. |
