Hey, guys,

I'm a Suhr dealer in VA, and I've been slowly ramping up my Suhr bass inventory this year. I recently did some sound clips of a couple of the basses, and I thought ya'll might find the clips informative. These basses REALLY sound awesome.

CAUTION - the clip of the white bass is quieter than the clips of the Spalted Maple bass. Sorry 'bout the volume discrepancy!

Yeah, the first slap clip is kinda Mark King-ish, and the second one is all Larry Graham. Ya just can't beat those guys!

That oly white bass helped me when I was thinking of what I wanted my bass to look like...I ordered the same but with a blocked and bound maple fingerboard, and yes I agree they do sound awesome.

It's on order, but I'll definitely post some pics when it arrives. Very Happy

I asked for black blocks and binding and a gloss neck, so hopefully it should really contrast the oly white finish very nicely.

Ah, you're in the midst of the wait, eh? Well, I hope the guys at Suhr crank it out lickety split for ya. I'm sure it will be worth the wait. These are AMAZING basses...

The waiting is the hardest part Smile

I actually had the chance to A/B a few of these with some Fenders, Sadowsky's and Fbasses, all of them great, but all the Suhrs I tried had that plus something else, and they weren't even on my radar!

In my opinion, these deserve MUCH more attention from bassists than they receive.

Yep, that is all true, for sure. I think they need to introduce their 5-string version before they'll really take off, though. I get a lot of "I love it! Can I get it in a 5?". Sorry, no... Rolling Eyes

I'm sure they'll go 34" scale with their 5, but wouldn't a 35" 5-string jazz bass be the bomb? I'd have to seriously consider buying one of those. After switching to Rosces, I can't stand a 34" 5-string anymore... the B strings never sound as good.

I'm not sure if the Pensa basses are based upon John's design, but the 5-string is available in 35" scale.

The new Suhr 7-string guitar is set to have a 27" scale. I presume that it's for improved note-definition. Likewise, I'm sure that John will do whatever's best for the tone of the 5-string bass.

The bass instructor here at Rocket Music (Cameron McLaughlin) just laid down this track ("The Chicken") using this fretless Classic J.

Jaco-ish bass? Jaco-ish clip Smile

That is a sweet sounding bass man. And your friend semmed to nail that warm fingerboard tone for the solo. Wink

What's the fingerboard finish? It looks wicked.
