Hi there,

While waiting for my first Suhr to get home (currently it is flying at 38000 ft high), I'm thinking of getting another one.

Since the incoming one is an alder strat like SSS, in order to go deeper in the hard rock sound, I've thought of a Classic T, HH, Floyd, one piece maple neck.
Classic T because John said it is punchier and really worth it.
But to get some EVH, Aldrich and way heavier singing sounds, what could be the body wood choice ? Basswood, Mahogany ?

Please advise here.

I'm hesitating between:
-Standard Mahogany/Maple top with Mahogany neck, rosewood ?
-Classic T Mahogany/Maple top with Mahogany neck, one piece maple could work ?
-Classic T Basswood/Maple top with Maple neck, one piece maple ?

All experiences are welcome !

Hmmmm...

It depends...

If you want a darker sound, go for the Classic T Mahogany/Maple top with Mahogany neck and Indian Rosewood board... To tighten up this one a little and add some crispness, go Classic T Mahogany/Maple top with Mahogany neck and Pau Ferro board...

Otherwise, I would say go for Classic T Basswood/Maple top with one piece Maple neck...

Hmmm, tough call. If your more about the evh tone, I would think maple/basswood would be your choice. Mahogany is great but certainly darker sounding.

Im specing out my next Suhr and Maple/basswood are on the top of the list.

It is definitely a tough choice.

Could we say the T mahogany/maple with mahognay neck would tipically be Les Paul sounding ?

Wouldn't a combo T basswood/maple and 1 piece maple neck sound too edgy or too medium ?

How do you describe a dark sound ?

Then my choice is made: Basswood/Maple top with Maple fingerboard. It should be killer on a Classic T.

I'll make that up with the Great Ed from Tonemerchants.
