Hi all, sorry to ask this question but I'm getting conflicting information and I'm hoping someone with an actual Rasmus Standard can help!

I'm looking to buy a Rasmus S200 with dual humbuckers and was wondering how the switch was wired please?

I emailed Suhr customer service who were great and told me that they used the Suhr standard HH wiring setup on the Rasmus and got the following info:

1. Neck Full
2. Neck Split (not sure which coil)
3. Neck and Bridge full
4. Bridge Split (not sure which coil)
5. Bridge Full

The thing is when I search for Suhr standard HH wiring I get this info:

1. Neck Full
2. Neck Split (outside coil)
3. Neck and Bridge Full
4. Neck and Bridge Split Inside coils
5. Bridge Full

So position 4 is the one that is puzzling me, plus I'm unsure which coil is active in position 2. I'd prefer to have neck and bridge split in 4 so hence my questions.

I asked the seller but he doesn't know as he is selling it for his son who has left for uni, so I'm stuck and I can't try before I buy.... so any advice from S200 owners would be gratefully received (or indeed the guys at Suhr!).

Thank you so much!

Al

Easiest way to find out is see if Position 4 hums. If it's just a split and only one coil is active, you'll definitely hear the single coil 60 cycle hum. If it's neck + bridge split, it'll most likely be hum cancelling, unless they screwed up the polarity and wiring.

Hey there, thanks for the reply it's much appreciated....

Unfortunately I can't try the guitar without buying it, and the guy selling is not a player so can't help. If I had it in my hand I would do as you suggested but I was wondering how it was wired before I purchased that was all.

Thank you though.

Ahh sorry didn't realize you're buying online

Bummer, no real way to find out then =/ Personally I'd just trust customer service's info, especially if you like the guitar. If it turns out to be wrong you can always ask customer service to send you a wiring diagram to fix it

I have an M200. When I asked about wiring I was sent a diagram by Suhr support which describes the coil of each humbucker closest to the neck as coil 1 and each coil closest to the bridge as coil 2.

It gives positions as follows:

1. Neck full
2. Neck split (coil #1)
3. Neck full / Bridge full
4. Neck split (coil #2) / Bridge split (coil #1)
5. Bridge full

The diagram is "H0HR5110 - 2.pdf".

I hope that helps?

Cheers,
Andy

Yeah it wouldn't be the end of the world I suppose, it would just be preferable not to have to mess with it!

Thanks for helping out though mate.

Thanks Andy, yeah this definitely helps because I would assume that they wired both the standard and modern HH guitars the same. Hopefully this is how its wired anyway!

I might drop them another line and see about a wiring diagram.

Cheers dude.

I will confirm that what Andy said is correct. Just to be crystal clear, our standard HH 1xVol 1xTone 5-way wiring is:

1. Neck full
2. Neck split (coil #1)
3. Neck full / Bridge full
4. Neck split (coil #2) / Bridge split (coil #1)
5. Bridge full

Coil #1 is always closest to the neck of the guitar.
Coil #2 is always closest to the bridge of the guitar.

Coil #1 will noise cancel with Coil #2, i.e. the two outside coils or the two inside coils will noise cancel when combined.

Coil #1 will noise cancel with our RW/RP middle single coils.
Coil #2 will noise cancel with our neck and bridge single coils.

Hope that helps!
