Hi Scott,

1. Will the tone in your new solo album be more like the X and HBC albums, or more dynamic like your previous solo albums ? (answer b please Smile )

2. Why do you prefer to use the Boss SE-70's delay over more popular delays like the Strymon El-Capistan or the Maxon AD999 ? Is it because you like the tone better, or because ease of use (in changing patches with MIDI) ?

Thanks!

More of a mixture. There isn't any music on X or HBC that calls for the type of mildly overdriven tones I used on Well To The Bone or the other blues records. The guitar tones on X and HBC are in your face, like the music. I'm more the horn player on those records than the guitar player if you know what I mean. It's fusion, not blues.

The SE-70 is for live use only - the quality difference between it and the other delays you mentioned are probably not even noticeable in the audience. Plus it's midi and has tons of other cool sounds besides just delay and reverb.

In the studio I use EchoBoy, which in my opinion blows away the delays you mentioned and anything else, including my vintage Echoplex.
