I have a chance to purchase a 2012 Suhr modern carve top, 3/4 inch quilt maple top, aged cherry burst with a fully scalloped ebony fretboard, emg pickups, mid boost push/pull pot, gotoh Floyd rose bridge and case. It's in mint condition. The seller is asking 2000. I'm new to suhr guitars. Does this sound like a fair deal?

If Suhr did the scallop and that's what you want, it's a great deal. If Suhr didn't do the scallop, the value does down substantially. This maybe why it's only $2k.

Yep, I love the scalloped boards. The scalloping was done by DC guitars, but they did a great job. I'll be buying it to keep so resale value isn't that important.

Never mind the price -- the real question is how much you like the guitar !

That's a great point and I do love this one, but there's still that voice in my head screaming at me to make a good deal. I'll probably make the jump on this one though.

Is it this guitar? http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?t=1321748&highlight=Suhr+scallop

If so, yikes! Be careful.

Wow, I should have waited. This is the very same guitar I just bought, that makes me what, the fifth owner? It has been rewired back to original specs. If I'd have known the history of this axe I would have stayed away, but I actually really love it. It looks killer and sounds fantastic. So all ends well. Really a perfect guitar for me at what I still believe is a fair price.
